Park tensioning meter question

I have the Park TM1 and have used it for several years with great results. I am always confused as to which column on the accompanying chart to search for reference numbers when dealing with butted spokes. Do you measure the thick part or the thin? Or perhaps an average of the two. What are other users choosing?

Measure the thin part of the spoke's thickness for tension conversion, and make sure both posts aren't touching any of the thick parts of the spoke when measuring tension.

I've always questioned Park's conversion chart for double butted spokes. I have two sets of wheels with Revolution spokes (2.0-1.5-2.0). The driveside spokes are set at the Park deflection number of 22 which according to the chart equals 157 kfg. The rims are light, Open Pro and DT RR 1.1 single eyelet. I'm not recommending that you set yours that high but I've had no problems with the rims after several thousand miles.
