maintenance after cycling in rain

Re: Cycling in rain

Hi,

I just got my bike awhile ago and have never cycled in the rain until today. I am just wondering if there is anything that I need to do each time to ensure that the chain does not rust and the parts do not sustain damage ?

If its dry, it wont rust. All i do after I ride in the rain is I wipe the chain off, and take a hair dryer and spray the dereilleurs and whatever else that has water beads on it. I also quirt lube onto almost al the bolt heads, so they dont start rusting. Thats all you really need to do. ;)

I use WD-40 or something similar as a corrosion displacer. That is just for any bits of water you miss while trying to get the chain dry. However, it is not a proper lube, so you'll need to apply something else when the rain stops to get better protection.

I hope you'll enjoy riding in the rain as much as I do :)

What's wrong with WD40 if it's followed by proper lube?
