Freehub/axle help
well my rear hub locknut came loose somehow and no matter how I adjust it keeps binding, spins free for 1/2 turn then binds, cups and bearings look fine, i suspect my races are trashed or the axles bent (didn' tlook like it). i'll take apart later today and check the axle again. If need a need freewheel hub does anyone know where I can get one, I just spent $30 on a freewheel and would hate to HAVE to buy a new rearwheel and casette. I look over and can't find a freewheel hub or even a freewheel rear wheel.
Help!
also to be clear it IS a freewheel and not a cassette style, its on a MTB

It sounds like you need a new axle as the threads on yours appear to be damaged. Replacement axles are available from a variety of sources and you LBS should be able to get what you need. Take your hub apart and see if the cones and/or hub races are damaged before spending any money on a new hub or wheel.

Thanks the threads on the axle, a few look pretty bad, but it went on anyway, I'm just taking the whole thing to the LBS for only $15 they'll rebuild the hub (new bearing and grease, swap axle) its almost not worth my time frustation.

just an update in case anyone is looking at this or in the future needs help, The LBS (Bike Doctor Linthicum) rebuilt it and upon gettng home it was loose again (the hub), they tightened and it was loose again, so they disassembled again and found the race was trashed, probally being loose in the past did it, i guess. So as luck would have it, they happen to have a freewheel style wheel in stock (can we saw WOW), they credited me the $15 for the OH and put that towards a new wheel ($40-15=25), forty bucks for a wheel again WOW, they transfer the tire and freewheel no charge and even adjusted my front derailuer and brakes no charge, Bike doctor is the best, there is no way performance would have done all this they wanted $25 alone to OH hub. It also FYI only cost $7 parts and labor to adjust rear derailuer and install new cable (shifts like new).
