Shimano 105 Shifters
I keep hearing Shimano 105 shifters are double/triple compatable. Then I see people specifying double or triple when selling these shifters(EBAY primarily). I am switching to a double from a triple and have new Ultegra double derailleurs but wish to retain my 105 shifters (for now). Am I off base in thinking this will be just fine?

You should be fine. The brifters control where the derailleur goes. The limit screws on the front derailleur will probably need some adjustment to get it to the right total travel.

105 shifters are double/triple compatible. If you'll go to the Shimano website you'll find that the same part number is used for doubles and triples. Not so for Ultegra 10-speed or Dura-Ace.

Makes sense as the higher priced components become more and more specialized and crisper. I will eventually change the shifters out as well, just got to find a good enough deal on Ultegra/DA to get it done... Needed to make sure I was ok for the application.
