Having some trouble finding a french threaded BB for my peugeot. Then I came across this.

Anyone have any experience with these type of BBs? I assume it would work, but there might be something i'm missing.

An interesting product, looks like one solution to the Fr thread problem.
Not sure why they talk about 1.6mm washers, as it seems that the
BB would accomodate any width from 68 to 73. Maybe the internal
threading is not that robust. I would inquire about what tooling is
used to tighten/loosen the BB and lube the internal thread with suitable
grease. DO NOT use loktite, you would never get it off with the fine
internal threading on the BB.

Having to mod the frame is a big requirement. The bottom bracket is of questionable quality. Sounds like a crap shoot.

Have you absolutely determined that a french thread is required? A lot of Pugs, especially those produced in the 80's and beyond used British.

The problem with those is you need to find someone with a chamfering tool to chamfer the BB shell. I can tell you from first hand experience if you skip this step, the outer flange will likely fail. Other than that, they seem to be of ok quality.

I'm not 100% sure it's french thread yet, I'll have it apart next week. I've dated it roughly to the mid 70s by the decals. However it is an Australian built model, i can't find any info about whether or not they used british thread on the BB.

Just looking at my options, i may not have to replace the bottom cups if i can find a cotter-less axle to fit in the existing bb.

This is the standard YST brakcet. Low quality, low everything. It basically is a last ditch effort to revive a bike with F'ed up BB threads.

I remember Sheldon Brown remarking that they stopped selling them cause they blew. Most shops should have this special "frame mod" tool. Once you do it, you can't go back.
