Finding Specs for Older Bikes

By older bikes I mean from last year's model to vintage. Where do you find specs for these bikes? I'm especially curious whether there is a comprehensive online reference.

Thanks!

Schwinns are well covered here, from '60 thru '79:
https://www.geocities.com/sldatabook/publications.html
And here, from '80 thru '90:
https://www.trfindley.com/flschwinn_1980_1990/

Lots of older Raleigh info here:
https://sheldonbrown.com/retroraleighs/index.html

Old Treks are covered very well here:
https://www.vintage-trek.com/

Several bits and pieces here:
https://sheldonbrown.com/oldbikes/index.html

But no, there's no comprehensive guide available that I know of that would cover as wide a range of bikes as you're talking about. If you have something "vintage" that you can't find info on, post pics and questions in the Classic and Vintage forum, there's constant discussion of old bikes there-

Many manufacturers have on-line archives but they are not all accessable from the company's home page. You may have to go in the backdoor using a google search. Note that manufacturers specs do not always match items delivered to shops and Euro specs can differ from US ones.
Is there a specific make/model/year you are looking for?

Interesting concept but considering bikes have been around longer than cars and have had at least as many manufacturers and models, a truly comprehensive catalog would look like the New York phone directory, assuming anyone could even find the information.

Your best bet is to look for a specific manufacturer's web site, forum or book. As well biked pointed out, Schwwinn, Trek and Raleigh have been documented in some detail and there are probably others.

Have you checked out the Classics & Vintage section of this forum?

Lots of very knowledgable folks there.
