New to Bikes... Need to change some handlebars

I have a Bianchi Sport SX that has the original road bars. I would like to install a set of aero bars as I plan on doing a triathlon, however it seems I need a stem to do this? All the stems I've seen have a bend and clamp to them, I just need a straight one to clamp a bar on to (the bar set I've seen cheap on ebay clamps on, its the PZ Racing AE 5.0).

Am I nuts? Can I find this piece?

It sounds like you have a threaded stem and you need a threadless one for the aero bars that you want.

There are a couple of ways to get what you want. One is to use a threaded to threadless adapter. You can find one at Nashbar and on eBay.

Another option would be to find aero bars that will fit the stem/handlebars that you have now. There are many clamp on type that will fit your bars.

Cool Thanks. Now that 1 inch or 1 &1/8 inch measurement is the diameter of the steering tube hole?

The stem built into the factory handlebars looks kind of like this:

see the bottom part that kinda pops out a bit?

No, the 1" or 1 1/8" is the outside diameter of the steering tube. A 1" quill is not actually 1", it fits a 1" steerer, it is really 7/8".
Yes, I see the wedge.

Nope, it's the outside diameter of the steerer tube, a part that is not visible on an assembled bike.

The hole is 1/8" smaller than the nominal size.
