Problem with Profile Airstryke hinge

The ride today was pretty rough (I'll have to add Austin County, TX to my list of counties where the roads are crap) and the bike got a lot of vibes, and I noticed the pin working loose from one of the hinges on my Airstryke aerobars. I was able to push it back in enough to get home, but it doesn't seem very tight and will probably work loose again. I tried reseating it with a punch, but noticed that it could be moved back out pretty easily now. How can I keep this pin in place?

I have the same problem on mine, for the second time. The first time was just after I bought the aerobars and the LBS fixed it by providing a new pin. They've lasted for several years now, and the pin just came loose again. Like you, I drove it back in with a punch but it worked loose again.

I don't think you can do anything with the old pin, so what I'm going to do is put in a small finishing nail, so the head won't go through, and then burr the other end enough so it won't go through either.

The first time it happened that's basically what the LBS did while they were waiting for a replacement pin.

Hmm... that's odd: I was getting database errors when trying to access this thread, and when it finally came back I see that the picture I originally posted was gone and is replaced by (whoever that is)...

Anyway, this is the picture I had posted previously:

A picture of some guy... nate.jpg. I edited the post earlier to remove the attachment (nothin' personal, Nate! :D )
