replacing a truvativ chain ring - alloy or steel?

I've concluded my middle ring on my commuter is nearly done. Affordable replacement rings are abundant, but I'm not sure if I should choose aluminum or steel.

The prices are about the same for either. This is a for an all season bike that gets wet, so I'm hesitant to introduce any rust to my dive train via steel chain ring - unless there's some durability or other factor that is appealing.

Thanks.

Aluminum chainrings for everything except stainless steel mountain bike granny rings.
