Rebuild Candy SL by just sliding Candy C onto the Spindle?

So I have about 9K miles and going on 3 years on a set of Crank Bros Candy SL pedals which are now on my commuter. The SL's have some wear, and there is play in the pedal body vs the spindle on one of them. I figure it's time to rebuild them before I find out the failure mode. The cleats are similarly about shot.

Last year I picked up a pair of new Candy C's which I've used for about 1500 miles. (These cost me less than a pr of cleats and a rebuild kit) I was thinking of just taking the bodies off the old pedals, and sliding the Candy C bodies and bearings on to the SL spindle as my no-labor rebuild.

Anyone know for sure if these parts are compatible? Anything I should know about the rebuilding these pedals?

TIA
