What does "T" w/r/t a 12-26T cassette?

Hi,

I apologize for the dumb question, but couldn't answer it by searching. What does the T mean?

I wanna put a Forte 8-speed 11-28 cassette on a Sora-equipped bike to replace an 8-speed 12-26T road cassette. I think my derailler capacity can take the larger spread (based on https://sheldonbrown.com/gloss_ca-g.html#capacity).

Anyway, thanks!

number of teeth on each cog. i.e. 12-26T means there are 12 teeth on the smallest cog and 26 teeth on the largest.

Teeth.

Your derailleur will be fine. There is a slight chance that you'll have to add an inch to your chain. I'd check it by gingerly attempting to shift into the big/big combination just to be sure.

I thought t meant tooth.
"It's a 16 tooth cog."
not
"It's a 16 teeth cog."
