Moving Shimano cassette to new wheel?
My bike came with Bontrager Race Lite wheels and a Shimano Ultegra 12-25 10 speed cassette.
I recently purchased a set of Cane Creek Team T1 wheels, with a Sram 12-27 9 speed cassette.
The idea was to take the Sram cassette off (maybe use it for climbing later), put the Shimano cassette on the new wheels, and, you know, use them. This is the the first time I've taken off or put on a cassette.
The Shimano 10 speed cassette seems too tall for the Cane Creek wheels. Does this sound right? There doesn't seem to be too much too screw up here, so I may just be out of luck with these wheels but I'm still holding out hope. No spacers behind the cassette. It fits great if I take out my 13t.

I've had cassettes fit tightly on a freehub and need a slight amount of encouragement to bottom out on the splines. If you can get the lockring to thread in at all, try using the lockring tool by hand to screw on the lockring and "press" the cassette into place (assuming it won't go just by hand. Don't use a tool for this because if something is wrong, you'll stand a much better chance at screwing something up. By hand, the risk is very low.

Thanks guys. Knowing it should be possible I tried it again and by lightly compressing the cassette I was able to make it fit!
