Tiagra Brifter Gear Indicator

Wife and I bought '07 bikes this weekend, both with Tiagra brifters. Her Specialized Allez has windows on the top of the hoods with a red bar that indicates relative gear selection; my Trek Pilot 1.2 looks like it has an older flavor of Tiagra's. I hadn't noticed this in the store. Did all Tiagra's in '07 have windows and I got some leftovers; or did Trek save a few pennies by buying the non-windowed versions?

Im pretty sure it was just a mid-season change. At our shop most of our pre-season 07 specialized allez that came with the tiagra shifters were equipped with the older ones. later on in the season we ordered some more of the same bike and they showed up with the newer tiagra shifters.

Interesting. It kinda makes me sad, as the newer style just looks sharper. Oh well--as long as they work, I'm set.

The newer Tiagra levers are very nice, they came on my '07 Giant TCX. They feel just as good as the previous generation 105 levers i have on another bike.
