Ergo brake levers, Shimano cables ??

Putting on a new set of Shimano brakes. I have Centaur ergos J-tek'ed to a Shimano drivetrain. Question: Will the stock Shimano cable nipple work with the ergo levers? (Save a few bucks and not buy Campy cables.)

**I've been cautuioned by a couple of our local "expert" amateur wrenches that I won't get a good fit.

I assume you're talking about shift cable. Definitely won't get a good fit. The Campy ends are very slightly smaller than Shimano. Spend the extra $6 and buy the things that'll work.

Clarks/Casiraghi make good value Campagnolo compatible cables. You could try those...

Jagwire makes double ended shift cables with a Shimano fitting on one end and a Campy fitting on the other. Bike Tools Etc has them at $2.65 each. Here is the link:

Installing a Shimano STI cable in an Ergo lever works very well......until you try to remove it.
