Bike store prices.

I just had my bike (mosh bagley) painted and I brought it to the LBS to have them put the fork and crank on. They are putting on new bottom bracket, headset, bearings, cup seals. With labor, its gonna cost me about $50. (US). I've got a little idea of the cost of the parts. Does this seem like a fair price?

If the LBS is supplying the parts and the $50 includes labor, I'd say you got one heckuva bargain.

My car mechanic charges more for an oil change, which takes fewer tools, less labor, less parts cost and very little mechanical knowledge. Considering they are performing the work with a warranty on their service...yes, it's probably too cheap. Find someone more expensive.

+1 - if parts are included, that's a crazy good deal.

I wouldn't open my toolbox for $50.00. I don't know how these guys do it.

That's a pretty good deal. Depending on what they define as "installing a new bottom bracket and headset with fork installation".

I wrench for free on bikes neighborhood kids bring me. But, that's because they don't have the money, and their parent's won't do it. Chalk it up to community service.
