Cable Replacement?

Hi All,

My Pegoretti has arrived! I will be transitioning my Record group from my Orca over to the Marcelo. Do I need to or should I replace the cable set at this time or can I use the cable set from the Orca?

Thanks! :)

If it fits, why not?

I'd replace them just on general principle. Fresh cables and housings are a benefit on any bike. I cound never understand why some guys will pay for all this nice stuff and then cheap out on paying the last few bucks for new cables and housings.

Without seeing either bike I'd be willing to bet that the housing lengths won't match exactly and at least one cable will have a frayed end.

I'm with Retro G on this unless the old cables are basically new and it all fits. The only thing I might use again are the RD and R brake cables for the FD and F brake on the new bike. Then keep one each of the full length new cables (brake and der) for spares.

I concur with Retro Grouch.

I'm thinking that new cable won't be a bad idea. The Pegoretti has the shifter cable bosses on the down tube while the Orca's bosses are built into the head badge. I hope I'm not just rationalizing! :D

Thanks for the responses!

+1
Always replace cable housings with new cables, cheap and easy job.
