campagnolo bb - problem that threaded side is acentric to spindle
1 Attachment(s)
HI,
I've bought a second hand campy record bb. Now that I have recieved it I have found that the threaded side, which appears to be a seperate cap from the cassette spindle, is not on properly and is not perpendicular to the centre of the axle. I can turn this threaded cap piece relative to the rest of the bb but I can not release it. Has anybody seen this problem before? Is this piece supposed to come off and is it simply a case of trying to force it loose (I've already had a go really tugging at it but it won't budge) or do I risk doing further damage to the bb? I've not been unable to find any details online regarding how these brackets are assembled. I'm hoping there is some way I can salvage the piece before I right it off and send it back. I attach a picture. As you can see not all of the tapered end is showing as the cap is not fully on. You can also see that it is not at 90 degrees to the spindle. Thanks for any tips! CB |
is it still like that when the cup is fully seated?

you mean when fitted to the bike? i've not put it in yet but there is no movement in the threaded section (other than turning) no matter how hard I push or pull so screwing it into the frame will not make any difference.
