Just installed Ultegra R8010 brakes, juddering only at slow speed

Hi! I just installed Ultegra R8010 brakes front and rear from Tektro direct mount brakes. I never had a pulse or a judder with the Tektros, but now on my front R8010 brake it judders, but only at slow speed. I torqued all the bolts down with a torque wrench to Shimano's specifications and toed in the pads as recommended. Any idea what could be causing the judder?

Assuming all caliper pivots are not sloppy loose then I'd look at the rim/pad interface. Try the old pads as an experiment. Andy

At least on cheaper bicycles, I have come across rotors with a variation of thickness due to manufacturing defect. Pulsation of this type generally is much less noticeable at higher speeds.

Firstly I would spray a little water on the rotor and ride/drag the brake until dry, in case some surface condition exists on the rotor faces.

Some break-in period may help, but ditch or return the rotor if it's bad for more than a couple of dozen stops after wetting it down once.

Please note that these are direct mount brakes; i.e. rim brakes, not disc.

Clean the rims with rubbing alcohol and/or a scrubbing pad to remove old residue, that is likely causing the new pads to catch and judder
