Cannondale Integrated Headset

I need a new integrated headset for a CAAD8 frame with a Slice carbon fork with an alloy steer tube. What type of FSA/Cane Creek headset will fit this? The C-Dale tech docs say "Alloy Steerer tubes use standard star nut preload assemblies" but I don't know what that means.

i have yet to have this issue with my c'dale but it is my understanding that a standard integrated headset will work. from what i have read on this forum and another bike forum i would definitely go with cane creek. their customer service seems par excellant!

There are at least two incompatible integrated headset standards, Cane Creek and Campy. I'd contact Cannondale to get the exact type and/or remove the current bearings and read the model number and dimensions engraved on them. Cane Creek and FSA both make good headsets.

The alloy (i.e. aluminum) steerers use a pressed in starnut to preload the headset. Carbon steerers require a compression plug and must not be used with a starnut.
