BB for Campy Triomphe crank
I was just wondering if anyone happens to know of a bottom bracket that will work with an older Campy Triomphe crankset. I'm doing this all mail order, so I want to avoid experimenting. I'm hoping to use the crank on my new fixed gear, so I'm down to one chain ring. I know that I need a 68mm BB with a tappered spindle, but does it need to be specifically a Campy BB? I was looking at the Centaur and Veloce BB 68x111mm. I think that those BBs would require a campy specific tool for installation. Suggestions?

It needs to be a Camoy BB because the taper on the spindle is different between Shimano and Campagnolo. Visit you local bike shop. If you buy the bottom bracket from them they will probably install it for you.

I would love to visit my LBS, but I live at 9,000ft. The few LBSs that we have deal primarily in Mtn., and have switched over to ski shops for the winter. Besides, I want my own tools. My main concern is that the crankset dates back to the 80's. Does campy still use the same taper?

Phil Wood also makes BBs with a Campy taper. A little pricey, but you will never have to replace it again.
