brooks leather

does any one know if brooks will releather a saddle?

roadfix 06-09-08 05:41 PM

I would imagine it would be cheaper to just buy another saddle, depending on the model...

Re-leathering a saddle would be just like getting a new one, as the new leather wouldn't be broken in. So what's the point of getting it releathered unless you're really attached to the rails?

it is a older swift. They are pretty pricey now a days.

You can buy every other part of the saddle except the leather! Perhaps if you wrote them and explained why the frame has a such special meaning to you they would consider it but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Yeah, I don't see the difference between a re-leathered and a new saddle.

Good luck. Even though the Swift is expensive--supposedly because of the titanium frame, not the leather--replacing the leather would cost as much as a new unit, what with shipping, removing the old leather and rivets, cleaning, inspecting and repairing the frame and replacing and re-riveting a new leather. And even if it could be done, it wouldn't be as warrantable as an all-new product.

I doubt they would do it; the volume wouldn't make having a craftsman assigned do that kind of work worthwhile.
