Newbie needs Spalding bike help

Hello everyone and glad to be aboard! I need help with a used bike I just received. It's a Spalding DynaSport Mountain 18. My problem is the repair/parts manual was lost. I contacted Spalding which was lost cause since the bike was made in early 90s. Most of all I use the bike for daily needs since I cannot afford fuel costs. I've suffered a tremendous personal loss and in dire straights financially. I would like to fix or repair some things myself (adjust brakes, derailer, &c) saving the cost of bike shop expenses.

Any help would greatly be appreciated and thank you advance!

Manuals that come with bikes almost never give you much useful information.
Take a look at Parktool.com.

The bike you are referring to did have a generic owner's manual, but not a specific repair manual to that bike. If you have some repairs that are needed right now, your local library should have several books on repair.

+Manuals are basically useless.

+Bikes are frames with generic components bolted onto them. You just need to identify the brand and model of components, and then dig in.
