SIS FD Downtube Shifter?

Guys, does the 8-9-10 speed SIS FD Downtube Shifter "click" or it's just a simple friction shifter?

If simple friction does it travel like a whole ~90 degree (the lever) or is it setup in such a way that one needs to move the lever just a bit to complete the shifting?

They can be either index or friction. They are changed by turning the "D" ring on the side of the shifter.

Shimano downtube shifters do "click" (i.e. index) for the rear shifting so you need to buy the correct model to match the number of cogs in your cassette. Front shifting is strictly friction.

However, the rear shifter also has a friction setting so it can be used either way. The friction option allows the lever to move through its full range of travel.
