peugeot retrofit

Hi, I own a late70's or early 80's peugeot carbolite 10 speed. I want to strip it down to the frame and repaint it . then I want to retrofit the entire bike with modern components. I have no idea what brands and model parts might best fit it. Any ideas?
Thanks, Smitty

Carbolite denotes the cheapest, heaviest tubing that Peugeot used in their low end bikes. Are you sure you want to put a whole lot of money into that bike? Modern compnents are expensive and you will need to cold set your frame to accept a modern hub. Maybe it would be better to do some upgrades with some lightly used parts from eBay. The best thing you can do for an old, low end Peugeot is to replace the steel rims with aluminum.

Here's an old Peugeot PA10 that I built for my daughter using used parts and an inexpensive mail order track wheelset.

I need to upgrade steel rims to aluminum rims....where can I find these? I have a UO 12, tubing is 103, i'm completly new to road bikes, the Peugeot is completly new to me. I only bought it because I want to pick up cycling, and it was $45. I have only upgraded seat and chain, the rear de-railer is a Shimano 515 or SIS, don't even know that.

Thanks.
