Front derailleur shim???

Does anyone make a shim so I can use my 34.9 front derailleur on my 31.8 frame? I really don't want to buy a new FD. Any tips for making a homemade version? Thanks.

Bikes: Catrike 559 I own some others but they don't get ridden very much.

Derailleur shims are readily available but a bike shop probably won't have one on hand. The QBP part number for exactly what you need is DP6022. Regular retail is about $3.00.

I've kluged some from whatever I had on hand. Tape isn't rigid enough and the derailleur moves around too much. A spiral strip of sheet metal works fine once you get it installed but getting the right thickness is a PITA and might take a couple of tries.
