Clicking sound chain guide

Ok ever since my brother borrowed my Lemond Etape for 10 minutes and somehow forgot he was in clips and toppled over my bike has made a clicking sound. I'm not sure what the term is but I believe its part of the component that guides the chain to the cog with the crank. I think the chain is slapping that guide because it bent perhaps. Is this an expensive fix? I suppose the easiest way to find out is to take it to the LBS but I thought I would do some research first.

the front dérailleur?

check to see if it's bent..since he did taco its a good chance it is..they are made out of aluminum and can bend easily, and really should be replaced if they are bent..unless its not to bad you may be able to bend it back for temp fix.

Try to trim. Just shift back and forth several times while the bike is stationary, sometimes this can fix the problem.

i would just take it to a shop to check it out since he had a crash, you could have other problems that are more serious and not so obvious
