MTB triple to double and FD question

My Giant Rainier is currently set up with an ISIS drive 48-38-28, and the bottom bracket needs replacing. After learning the downside of ISIS drive BBs, I was wondering if it might be wise to consider replacing the BB with a non-ISIS BB and getting some new cranks, namely a compact double (50-39). I don't use my granny ring at all, and would like the extra two teeth on the big ring. I run an 11-26 cassette.

The main question I have is, if I were to replace these parts of the drivetrain, would my Deore FD need replacing as well? Are the extra two teeth on the new crank going to cause a problem? I figure I can always adjust the FD to ignore the granny position.

The curvature of the cage won't be perfect but I expect the shifting "degradation" will be insignificant.
