Carbon seatpost question
Well I've searched the Forums from top to bottom about CF seatposts, and it seems to be about the most two-sided arguement ever. Half of you think they're great, the other half think they are a waste of time.
Anyway, my fixie project is lacking only a seatpost (and some paint :) ). I got a 26.8mm Kalloy one (having checked the frame against a 1" and 27.2mm seatposts and decided that was the right size), only to discover it was too big. I then tried tightening my 1" post in the frame and it seems to be a good fit (it was kinda loose before, but with a clamp it's fine. Weird). Being a compact frame, the top tube is very low at the back, making for a short seat tube and a long seatpost. I wasn't going to go all posh on this bike, but I found a 25.4mm carbon post in my LBS and decided to splash out. Unfortunately it was way too short (I need at least a foot), but I've got the carbon bug now. Can anyone recommend a 25.4mm carbon post that's at least 300mm long? Easton only goes down 26.8, which I know is too big. Ritchey and Campy only go down to 27.2mm. I'll check the websites of any others I can think of, but I think my choises will be limited. BTW, I think the one I found was a Woodman, I'll see if I can find out if they do a longer one.
edit: Woodman (or WOOdman as they insist on spelling it) does do a longer version. I'd hope my LBS could order one, so I guess that's my first choice. Does anyone have any opinions on the company? (I have one of their seat clamps and it seems pretty good quality, but what of their carbon stuff?).
