adjustable stem question

Want to buy an adjustable stem to change my fit. Am looking at one made by Ritchey that states rotation point is 30 mm in front of center line of steerer. Question is if I buy an 80 mm adjustable stem and set it straight at 180 degrees, does it measure 80 mm from center line of steerer to center line of handlebar clamp, or 120 mm ? (80+30)

My confident guess would be 80mm. All stems are measured from center to center so i don't see why that would change because it's adjustable. Oh, and 80+30 = 110

Adjustable stems are bad for general riding. Only use them to find the correct fit. Then replace with a non-adjustable stem.

You'd think, but I've been using the Ritchey stem while tweaking my position and that thing is rock solid (I weigh 200lbs) . And just as heavy. There's really nothing fragile about it, but it sure is oogly.
And FYI, everytime you want to change position you have to dismantle the connector including the headset cap, necessitation an adjustment of the HS.
