Strange sound....I can't tell what it is
I was riding home today and I noticed a sound. It's a sporadic clicking/pinging when I'm moving. I stopped pedaling and just coasted and the sound stopped. When I pedaled it came back. It seems to be happening every revolution of the pedals, but not necessarily at the exact same spot in the revolution every time. My bicycle mechanical skills are what you would call beginner. I got off the bike a couple f times to try and investigate, but I couldn't figure it out. I don't know what this is and I don't want it to get worse either.
Can anybody help me?

Try servicing your chain according to these instructions. https://sheldonbrown.com/chainclean.html It will probably fix it.

Pedals maybe? Try lightly greasing the threads and cinching them down a bit. Or, do you ride clipless? Maybe it's in that mechanism.
This sound thing can be maddening and there can be a whole host of causes. I've had annoying sounds luckily just disappear before. Gotta like that!

Make sure your right crank arm isn't hitting the extra cable that sticks out from the front derailleur.

A little bump.
I have searched the entire bike for a loose screw, cable, etc.
Nothing.
It sounds to me like it's coming from the front tire or the chainring (BB?) area.
It's two or three clicks per revolution, but only when I'm pedaling.
I flipped the bike over and turned the pedals and the sound is gone. It only makes the sound when I have my weight on the bike and I am pedaling.

Things that don't move on a bike, do actually move and become the cause of clicks, creaks etc. I've had this with seatposts (make sure there's a little grease on the post, or inside the seat tube) steerer, stem and handlebar clamps, saddle rails etc. There are very few parts on a bike that don't benefit from a little grease where they join.
