Problem with front gear change

The chain was rubbing on the chain guide on the front gears.

I have had it in to my bike shop to adjust, but found that after the adjustment, I was unable to change from the small chain ring to the bigger one.

I've messed about with it myself, and now I am stuck on the large ring.

What do I need to adjust, is it the H or L screws, or does the cable need to be adjusted.

I have a Giant SCR 4.0, and have only had it a couple of weeks, I like riding bikes, but am not very good at fixing them, I usually end up making things worse.

Thanks

Also take a look at the instructions for derailleur adjustments at https://www.parktool.com.
The Shimano instructions are about the same.
It is important to do all of the steps in proper sequence.
