bottom bracket
How do I remove it/ put in new one? The bike is a '91 Merlin with Suntour/WTB "Grease Guard" bottom bracket. I know this came stock with the bike- should I keep it on there? Are there many cranks that will work with it? All I know is this is proving to be somewhat of a nightmare restoring this bike. It's a Ti frame that came with Magura Race Line hydrolic rim brakes (pretty sweet) andI got a RockShox Mag 21 to mach the 1" head tube. It's coming along nicely, I just don't know what to do about this crank ordeal. Thanks!

If it was my bike I'd select the crankset that I wanted first and then get a new cartridge bottom bracket that matches it.
It doesn't sound to me like you're trying to keep this bike all original. If that's the case, picking a crankset that's out there for everybody to see based upon a bottom bracket that's both relatively cheap and pretty well hidden seems backward to me.
Incidentally, I've got a set of Magura rim brakes on my mountain bike. Love 'em.

Pick out the crank you like then see if your current bb is compatible with it. It probably won't. DON'T select the BB THEN the crankset. That's an epic fail unless you're *really* on a budget.
