How do you remove an FSA MegoEXO bottom bracket?
I've never removed a bottom bracket before but this one needs to come off. I've got both the 8mm allen wrench and the special BB tool.
Do I need to remove the chain rings first? I can't seem to get the 8mm bolt out, its on extremely well or perhaps I'm doing it wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :) |

There should be two pinch bolts on the non-drive crank arm that need to be loosened. Then there's a screw where the standard crank arm bolt would be, but on an outboard bearing setup this screw is just used to draw the non-drive side arm onto the BB spindle. Remove this screw and the non-drive side arm should slide off. Then you can use a rubber mallet to hit the spindle and drive the drive-side arm out of the bearings.

Learned something new...
Apparently, that 8mm hex recess screw is Loctited in place. Sounds like you just need more torque. Read this for more info: http://mtb.fullspeedahead.com/downlo...aExoCarbon.pdf |
Install the M27 QR nut and washer in to the L. arm (Use FSA tool no. EE023.)
To remove L. crank arm, simply unscrew the M18 fixing screw. |
Its on very very tight. Me (170) and another guy (240) held the crank as I tried to turn the bolt. I'm afraid to lock it down in a vice or any similar device because its aluminum and very thin and frail. I'm going to try using a breaker bar while another person holds down the other crank arm down ...
