Bike clamp lining material ???
Hi,
I've just managed to obtain a second hand proffesional bike repair stand, it's a bit of a monster standing over six feet tall, but it's fully functional except that the frame clamp lining has all but worn away and I was wondering what the best material was for re-facing it ?? It was made by Falcon Engineering here in the UK, but I'm unable, as yet, to get a reply to my emails. Cheers FlakMonkey |
Get a piece of pipe insulation (usually a closed cell foam). Put it around the tube of the bike you want to secure in the stand, and close the clamp over the foam. Will cost you a couple of dollars for a long enough piece that you can change it out often.

I know of some shops that use old MTB grips slit down their length to do the same thing, but once they are worn out so badly that you take them off your bike, I wouldn't want them on my nice frame tubes.

A section of old tire?
A few layers of old innertube? |
