hairline crack around nipple on rim, welding??
There are some hairline cracks around two nipples on my rim.
I do want to keep the wheel (it's an old school campy sewup). The best way I could think of is get someone weld it. Anyone tried? thanks. |
It's toast!
The metal is fatigued. Even if you could weld it, you'll have more cracks on the way. |
Agree with the above post. You cannot weld cracks in a rim. Have to replace the rim.

All rims wear like brake pads and tires.

Use it on a display bike.
Back years ago, my campy road pedals with black alloy cages kept cracking, I tried welding them using a TIG welder, and they then cracked next to the weld bead, most likely they were a non-weldable alloy such as 7075? Such were the "good old days" of cycling....did I mention wool shorts with real leather chamois.... |
