Garbage can crash repair :\ weird threadless steerer
I had been working on my week old used race bike for a couple hours at least and wanted to take it for a test drive. It was dark out of course but I had a flashlight which suited me just fine before. I do have a hi powered light but its on the fritz atm.
Well, I was in top gear and saw and registered a WTF and before I knew it I was over the bars. There was a large dark dark green plastic trash can with wheels right all across my lane.
Anyway, can I get a replacement cap for STI shifters? The one that says Ultegra Flight deck on top. It busted a hole in that and I'd rather not have the internals exposed.
I think most everything else was okay but it twisted my handle bars to the side. I could have sworn that was not possible but I did rotate them back. It is a 1" threadless and I don't know alot about those. I took the headset nuts off and noticed I needed to grease the bearrings but I couldn't get the steerer to budge one bit, was going to try to lower it.
It's got this weird steerer that is a solid piece with a square shaped hole on top that the handle bar holder slides into and is clamped on. It's got notches to adjust the reach of the bars over quite a big distance. Anyone have any info on those? It's not just broken I hope. I was going to switch to normal handlebar holder but thought I would have to cut the top of the tube off or just leave it on. I'll take pics tomorrow sometime if needed, right now I'm going to get to bed and hope I just have bruises and the road rash.

You'll have to post pictures before I can begin to understand what else is going on with your stem.
