Noisy front derailleur cable

My front shifter shifts fine. But it produces a creaking/clicking noise from the barrel adjuster near the brake lever that is starting to drive me crazy. Noise occurs when I move the handlebars. Tried lubing the housing and cable but no help. It's a triple and even in the granny gear there's a lot of tension on the cable.

Thanks for any help

put a piece of electric tape on the housing where it enter the barrel adjuster and see what that does.

Are you sure it's not the headset?

Thanks I'll try the tape. Pretty sure it's the cable/housing. Should have mentioned it in the OP but I can make the noise just by messing with the cable/housing without turning the handlebars.

I had that problem. In my case it wasn't the shifter or cable housing but the plastic cable routing thingie under my bottom bracket. I checked and the thing was fine. It hadn't even come close to wearing out. I used a dry lube and the creaking went away.

Did you try tightening the cable stop down on the frame boss?

Wanna post some pixs of your cable routing? Ppl is been known to route cable, eh... in a non-maintream manner.
