extra wide 1 1/8 headset cup?

I have this fork for a bike that I think has a larger than normal headtube. It has a 1 1/8" column but when I mount the fork on my road bike, there is a noticeable mismatch between the fork's crown(I think it's called that, right below the crown race) and the headset's bottom cup. Are there any headsets that have a wider than normal bearing cup?

I have a feeling that this fork was intended for one of those carbon frames that take an integrated headset..

on a related note, is running a fork like this going to cause a hazard, or is just an aesthetic issue?

Thanks!

Might want to start by telling us what the frame is. Can't say anything given the vague description.

I think you are correct that the fork was intended for use with an integrated headset frame. However, the mismatch is just cosmetic, not structural, so if you can ignore the looks, it will work fine.
