Anyone Familiar With This Bike Rack???
I picked up this rack real cheap. I thought I knew how to mount it to my SUV, but the two round, dowel type mounts have me baffled. I have the same rack with all hooks but loaned it to my son when he went to school.
Does anyone know how these round, dowel like mounts work? What type of vehicle they are intended for?
BTW the other four mounts are all typical hooks.
Any help is appreciated.

Maybe, and this is a guess, they are supposed to go into the seam where the trunk lid or tail gate meets the body of the car/SUV. You open the trunk or tailgate, place them inside and close the lid trapping them.

You Know!? For Kids!
It looks like a Rhode Gear, now Yakima. Go look at the instructions for this rack.

The bike toptube cradles do look like the old Rhode Gear design. I have one of their hitch mount bike carriers hanging in my garage right now. I didn't know Yakima bought the rights to the design.
The things the OP is asking about seem to be what Yakima calls "glass hooks" which do go into the seam between a glass hatch and the body, sort of as I surmised.

HillRider, Yup, that's it, those round mounts are for glass. I tried to mount the rack on two standard four door sedans, one was a Toyota and the other a Volvo S60. Those dowel type mounts did not work well. But, they would work in a glass hatchback.
Thanks,
Now all I have to do is buy a car with a glass hatch so I can use the rack.
jsharr, thanks for the link!
