Help with replacing BB on Fuji

Hi all,

Real new to wrenching on my own bike and I'm hoping you all can help me with this...

I have:

2006 Fuji Team road bike

As far as I can tell, it has this bottom bracket:

Giga X Pipe (GXP)- A external bearing system with 3D forged, heat treated and CNCÂ??d 24mm OD CrMo spindle integrated with right crank arm; custom cartridge bearings with six seals and CNCÂ??d alloy cups; AL-7075 T6 aluminum hardware with integrated non-driveside alloy self extracting bolt system and dual hex key chainring bolts for easy assembly without a special t-nut or spanner tools

Problem:
I'd like to replace the crankset (Truvativ - too long) with a Dura Ace 7700 crankset

I think I have to get a new BB, but does anyone know if I can fit an appropriate BB for the DA into the Fuji??

I'm sorry I don't have more info, but I figured someone might know what I'm trying to do and have some info. I figured I'd try here first before going to my LBS where I'm sure I'd have to buy something to make it work!!

Thanks in advance for any help!

you will need the shimano bb to go with your cranks . the bb will fit into your bb shell.

Right, thanks for the reply! So I just need any shimano BB as long as it is the correct threading for the cranks, and the correct width for my shell. Is that right?

Also, to remove and install, do I just need a BB tool? Anything else?

No. BB does not thread onto the crank (or vice versa). 7700 uses an Octalink spline with a retaining bolt. The BB cartridge does thread into the hanger tube. Fuji uses standard (ISO or 'English') threads. You also need the right axle length, 108mm for a double if I remember correctly.

Got it! Yes, sorry, I didn't mean thread onto the crank. Thanks for the correction. And the Park sites are good and chock full of information. I've not looked at them in awhile so I'll visit again - thanks for the link(s)!

Appreciate all the help and hopefully, with any luck, I'll get in and swap things out without too much issue. But if it's anything like my experience working on cars, I'll be back to post my problems before too long!!
