Surly cogs for a custom cassette

I tried doing a quick search, but I didn't find much. I'm curious as to whether anyone has tried to use Surly cassette cogs to make a custom cassette. It would be pretty expensive, but bombproof.

Anyone try it?

Cogs meant for SS use are considerably thicker than the ones used for multi-speed cassettes, and require a wider chain too. They havent got the teeth ramped and flared either. You'd get durability, but you'd be restricted in the number you'd be able to fit, gear changes would be more hesitant and you'd probably have to resurrect an old 5-spd rear derailer as well.

An old Sachs 5-6-spd rear hub would pretty much give you what you're asking for.

The installation sheet that comes with Surly cogs explicitly says you can't do this for the reasons Dabac writes. Doing so might void your warranty.
