Bike fit question.

I have two bikes, a 19" MTB and a 56cm hybrid. On the MTB the measurement from the ground is 1 5/8" greater to the top of the pedal, center of the crank and the top of the seat than the hybrid. The problem is when I stop and step off the MTB it feels like I'm stepping in a hole compared to hybrid. I'm starting to think that maybe my MTB is too big. Is this normal? I'm about 5' 10". Thank You.

Mountain bikes usually have a higher bottom bracket height than other geometries, but 5' 10" is IME a borderline size choice between 18 & 19, depending on how long you're legs/torso are.

Well, it has never bothered me, but now that you mention it, I do recall feeling like I am stepping into a hole coming off my mtb compared to my roadie. I dismount by swinging my leg and un-clipping and sliding off. It is smooth on my roadie, but it is quite jar on my mtb.

So, I guess it is normal, but I personally believe that if something bother you repeatedly, change it.

Good luck.

mtb is usually taller to clear obstacles.
