Jagwire Racer Kit

Will this kit work with an older Nishiki with Dia-compe brakes? I cant seem to find anything that shows cable ends or any kind of photos.

a link would be nice.

If the kit is specified as for road bikes then you're good to go. If it says mountain bikes then you're not unless you swapped over the bars and levers at some point in the past.

Sorry... here it is.

Do Shimano, Campy, and SRAM all use the same cable ends for shifters and derailers?

No. I don't know about SRAM but Campy Ergo brifters require a smaller derailleur cable end fitting than Shimano STI's and using a Shimano-type cable in Campy Ergos can jam the end in very tightly. Use the correct cable.

Jagwire makes double ended derailleur cables that have a Shimano fitting on one end and a Campy fitting on the other and you cut off the one you don't need. Bike Tools Etc. sells them.

As to the end that fastens to the derailleur clamp bolt, yes they are the same (i.e. plain wire) for every make.

Well, it says road brake kit right on the package so that settles that.

I didn't know that about the Campy shifter cable ends. I'll have to file that away for some day. Thanks.

Er... the brake ends are the same as Shimano, right? I've never had Campy stuff.

Hey... Ya never know. I just figured I would double check before I ordered. I hate returning things via mail.

Well, that's one way to make them fit. :)

Actually Campy brake cable ends are also a bit smaller than Shimano but the consequences of using the wrong ones aren't nearly as bad as the ends are more accessable. In fact, one bike shop I know of does file Shimano brake cable ends down to use them in Ergos.

The Racer kit has both campy and shimano ends on both shift and brake cables. Just snip off the one you aren't going to use
