Thanks

It won't work. You have to have a frame with horizontal or semi-horizontal dropouts. Or you can buy a eliptical bottom bracket to tension the chain.

Bikes: I never learned to ride a bike. It is my deepest shame.

I am not familiar with any aftermarket elliptical bottom brackets that can be used on standard frames... just the ones designed into tandems and some singlespeeds. Is there an aftermaket elliptical bottom bracket? I thought before it might be possible by downsizing the bearings and using a standard square taper spindle.

Sorry you are right. Brain lapse. The OP could modify the frame at either the dropouts or at the BB to use that particular hub. But I think it would be much cheaper to find a different hub.

Do you need a longer axle? I'm pretty sure my cruiser frame is narrower in back than a normal 10-speed frame.

If there were a chain tensioner that was rigid, it might work. But they tend to be spring loaded like derailers. They are not suitable.

There are chain tensioners that mount to the chain stay. I think they are primarily used for downhill riding, but they may work here. That being said, they aren't intended to be the primary tensioner, just to supplement a derailer, so they might ditch your chain at an inopportune time. Run it with a front brake though, and it'll probably work.

A model of Birdy folding bike used to be fitted with a coaster brake and a chain tensioner (needed for folding). It seemed to work without ripping the chain tensioner off but is a fairly silly idea.

a chain tensioner with a coaster brake? no. not sure what you are trying to do, but it won't be with a coaster brake and a chain tensioner. can your frame style not tension a ss/igh chain "old school" way? its the back pedel action of the coaster brake that makes the tensioner ridiculous.
