I miss Sheldon.

I dont really have anything to say, but man, I miss that guy. I never had the chance to meet him face to face, but I would still call him a friend.

My dad passed away about 9 years ago. He was a Sheldon-esq character. I feel your pain :(

I think of him every time I recommend sheldonbrown.com or someone else does.

:(

R.I.P.

I ran into an old thread the other day that had a Sheldon post in it. I was surprised how much it affected me. Feels sort of weird to say, since I never met the man.

Somehow he always reminded me of this:

I couldn't agree more.

Yes, Sheldon was quite a guy. Very helpful and courageous to boot.

Wonder if he and sydney ever met? Three years ago this month.

I have this feeling too.
I also have this same feeling when I run across a thread where sydney posted.

if ever there is something i need explained for me or just looking for some good advice or tips, i run to sheldon. he truely loved bicycles and id like to think that there is a little bit of sheldon in all of us who share his passion as much as he did.

cbchess 11-17-08 09:11 AM

I miss him too.

SoonerBent 11-17-08 10:26 AM

He's very much missed. He forgot more about bicycles and cycling than most other 100 people put together will ever know. An amazing man.

we all miss this good man and for now his knowledges is with us to read ,learn and most of all to share . RIP Mr. Brown . we all should do our works (repairs) in his honor.

i live very close to where sheldon worked and have passed by harris cyclery many times. i only got back into biking regularly last year and only learned of his legend weeks after he died. i will always regret never having met him. i will always revere him. 99% of what i have learned about bikes i have learned from his extensive website.

i recently went into harris cyclery for the first time. at the counter they had stickers with a sillhoutte of him (the same shot as his avatar here, with the helmet and plastic eagle), with the caption "Sheldon brown... Ride in Peace". i have one on my bike, my roof rack fairing, and my kid's child seat.

sheldon brown, may you rest in peace!

Sheldon is immortal as long as we remember him. Every time we post about him, a little bit of him is still alive. Every time I read one of his posts, which I did extensivelythis weekend, he is still present if only for a few moments.

My favorite Capt. Bike bits are his humor pages. I laugh just thinking about some of them, like the ShelBroCo Bicycle Chain Cleaning SystemŽ.

I miss Sheldon too. God bless Sheldon Brown.

We will not forget him...

It's funny, but Air and a few of us were riding through Prospect Park this past summer and he stopped to help a couple of folks with an instant repair. I remember giving him sh*t about all the tools he carries, but when he was done, I said "that's what Sheldon would have done!"

Then, the next ride, Henria86 stopped to help about three flats on a Century, but I gave him sh*t cause they were all girls...but he deserved the Sheldon Igor as well :)

I did a quick study to see how much of an impact he has had on the BF community:

Me too. It felt like somebody speaking to me from the grave. Spooky.

Me too my friend. I miss him too.
