Stem Shifter help

I was wondering if it is possible to buy stem shifters to fit a 1 1/8 threadless style headset?

You maybe could use a clamp-on downtube shifter mount and some downtube shifters.

I don't think so. I have some that are for 1". If nothing else, you could buy some of those and ream the hole out a bit. It's only 1/8", so a little Dremel work or a good file should take care of it. The ones that I've seen are for Shimano "Positron" rear derailleurs....the ones that use a solid wire rather than a cable. You could probably change that to a normal DT shifter, though.

Missed the threadless part of the OP.
You will also need to figure out how to set the headset preload. Threadless will make this close to impossible.

The ones I was describing are mounted on a flat plate. Ergo, they would just mount in place of, or in addition to, one headset spacer. There will, however, likely be a problem with the plate moving when you shift unless you could fabricate something to keep it in place. All-in-all, it's not an ideal combination.

i would think it easier to just adapt to a downtube shifter like previously mentioned.

I agree, but I'm guessing the OP has a reason for wanting shifters on the stem.
