Someone please help me

Hello, i am from new jersey and im really new to this whole cycling thing. I recently purchased a Trek road bike off craigslist and i was "told" it was a madone 5.9 sl. It looked like the pictures from the web but when i got home and compared them more some things didnt compare.

I was wondering if i posted a picture of the bike that i purchased if someone could tell me if i was scammed or if i wasnt. I would GREATLY APPRECIATE IT!!

I dont really know Madones, but it doesnt look like photos I have seen. You have a nice looking bike and if you enjoy riding it, you were not scammed. The size is the length of the seat tube from the middle of the crank, to either the centre or top of the top tube.

ya i was thinking the same thing. if you look at the frame mine has sort of an extension above the fork but in the pictures of the madone 5.9 there is no extension.. thank you so much for your help.

anyone else want to add an opinion?

I think that is a Trek 1000 in Discovery team colors. What do the shifters and derailleurs say on them? Sora, Tiagra, Ultegra, 105, Dura Ace?

I hope you didn't pay a madone price for a 1000 model bike...

Madone SL is an OCLV carbon frame, that looks like welded aluminum.
Looks a little bigger than a 54 as well....

you can see the welds - it looks like an aluminum frame - madones are carbon = not a madone.

+1 Thats a Trek 1000. You can find sizing info on the Trek bike website. Kind of looks like a 56cm bike, get a tape measure and compare to the geometry on the Trek site. That will tell you the size for sure.
