would this be wise to do? i know people say sheldon's chart is very conservative so i'm wodering if people have run anything like this

Since no else is responding, I will chime in to say that I've had 35mm tires on a 16mm wide rim and they look just fine (just slightly outside of the recommendation). Since you'll likely be running at them at quite low pressures, I don't think there's too much risk in giving it a try.

I haven't tried that combination, but I found that 2.3" wide tires on 23mm wide rims (this is a mountain bike, naturally) were very wobbly. I think this is because the rim was too narrow to keep the tire from moving side-to-side. I didn't experience the same thing with 23mm rims and 1.50" tires or 28mm rims and 2.3" tires.

There's a lot of difference between conservative nd very conservative!
Your combination is 3 sizes larger than recommended. I'd have qualms about going 2 sizes over, and wouldn't consider 3, unless the tire was very undersize for its rating. Some are more undersize than others, BTW.
I wouldn't try it unless I had other wheels I could use the tire on if it didn't work.
I've never used Nokian, so I don't know where they fall in the undersize arena.

Sure they're 13mm? I bought a set of those and seem to remember them being wider than my matrix rims, which are 13mm. Did you use calipers to measure? I would probably have stopped with 32mm tires on those rims.
