Mountain Bike Parts To CycloCross Bike

I've got an older mountain bike with some great parts (Shimano Deore XT). I'm ASSUMING I can use the derauillers, brakes and probably the cranks (correct me if I'm wrong). Its not a big deal but as long as the threading is the same, can I also use the bottom bracket?

Thanks

Keith

you can't use a MTB FD with road STI levers, the cable pull ratio is different.
if that's what you intend to do...

True. The bike in my earlier post has an Ultegra Triple FD and STI's.

The crankset might have the wrong chainline - spaced to match a 135mm MTB hub rather than a 130mm road hub. Aside from that, I can't see any issues.

the XT cranks are spaced for OS 73mm instead of 68mm so you will need to add spacers to the BB for outboard BB.
