7 speed Shimano shifter?

Was wondering if this shifter

Amazon Link Shimano SL-MC40

is one of the better 7 speed shifters widely available these days? I do not care about brand SRAM is also fine, it just needs to work with Shimano derailers. I have some old shifters on my bike I am rejuvenating, and when I was pulling off the old cables today I was thinking how much easier it would be to start with new shifters and cables.

Not many choices anymore. The Shimano SL-MC40 or Sram TRX will work with Shimano derailleurs, although I would favor the SL-MC40 over the TRX.

I just purchased the sl-mc40 from JensonsUSA and it works great with older stx derailleurs on a 1991 GT Timberline. PGMikeT
